Karen Beavor doesn’t just work with one Georgia nonprofit. She works for them all. As CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, Karen oversees an agency that serves, supports and strengthens Georgia’s nonprofit community. She has been with the organization for sixteen years. Formerly, she ran a small nonprofit organization called the Georgia Law Center, which focused on helping homeless people, battered women and people on the verge of being homeless. “What I like about the industry is that it is so diverse,” she said. “There’s a saying that ‘where there’s a need, there’s a nonprofit.’ I love what this organization does. If we can help one organization serve more homeless people or help one more organization to be sustainable to serve its community, it’s great.”
Karen has received the Martin Luther King Leadership award and the Harvard Business School Club of Atlanta’s Community Leader Award. She is a member of the 2000 class of Leadership Atlanta and 2003 Coca-Cola Diversity Leadership Academy, and a graduate of Agnes Scott College
