Shane Jackson demonstrates that leading a values- and mission-led company is good for the company and the community at the same time. By creating a special culture and being generous in the community, his company is thriving, which … you guessed it… lets them do even more for the community.
Shane Jackson is president of Jackson Healthcare (JH), an Alpharetta-based family of 17 companies and 1,400 associates specializing in healthcare staffing.
Since taking the role over in 2013, Shane has consistently led the nearly $1 billion private enterprise to more than double the industry’s annual growth rate.
Jackson Healthcare’s culture is routinely honored, including Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Best Place to Work“, and landing #6 on Fortune “Best Workplaces in Healthcare” and #64 on Fortune “Best Workplaces for Millennials.”
Given the fast growth, Shane knew the company needed to focus on the purpose- and values-driven culture that are foundational to that very success. So, among other things, Shane researched and wrote a book, Fostering Culture, on intentionally nurturing a values-led culture. Shane believes in creating office environments that make people feel special and inspired to treat others with excellence. So JH offers an In-house clinic, subsidized healthy restaurants, a fitness facility with classes and wellness services (chiropractors and nutrition evaluations), stress relief zones (putting green, game room, koi pond), and services (car wash, haircuts, dry cleaning, retail vendors). All this is housed on a beautiful Italianate campus which is expanding and will include another restaurant, a pool and other new services in two new buildings.
But even more than the environment, Jackson Healthcare is a place where volunteerism and generous community support are systemic, daily aspects to the culture. Shane is a primary guiding force for Jackson Healthcare’s mission of improving the delivery of patient care and the lives of everyone it touches – in the business and community impact work. Jackson Healthcare’s community impact program, LoveLifts, supports access to healthcare and the wellbeing of disadvantaged children through Associate Volunteerism, Business Mobilization, Purpose Partnerships and Corporate Giving which includes matching associate funds.
One pet project of Shane’s is his launch of a non-profit venture within the Jackson Healthcare family. Connecting Kids with Care™ connects volunteer doctors and nurses to thousands of global orphans with free, tech-enabled healthcare. This allows global children to get specialist assessments, helps adoptive parents understand what their new family will need for care, and gives licensed providers the joy of helping others, in time-efficient bursts from the comfort of their office.
Shane is an advocate for the power of business leaders as a positive force for people and the community. In December 2017, Shane supported his father, Rick, in founding goBeyondProfit, a unique business leader-to-leader initiative to advance corporate generosity. GoBeyondProfit’s vision is “to inspire companies of all sizes and at all stages to elevate giving back to a point it becomes the norm for all businesses in Georgia.” So far, more than 350 civic minded business leaders across Georgia have taken the goBeyondProfit “Pledge” to give back in their communities, while many “Ambassadors” such as Bernie Marcus of Home Depot and Paul Bowers of Georgia Power continue to spread the word.
In 2020, he received the distinguished Jerry Noyce Executive Health Champion Award from HERO, the Health Enhancement Research Organization, for his contributions in advancing employee health and wellbeing – as well as the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Corporate Citizenship Award.
